About me.

FortyFive North is the design and ceramic practice of Daniel Eckstein. Born and raised in Western Massachusetts, Daniel studied photography and ceramics at Skidmore College before moving to New York City, where he built a career as a photographer. His work has been published and exhibited widely, and he is the author of Horn Please: The Decorated Trucks of India. He also co-founded StudioBooth, an experiential photo and video agency.

Daniel rekindled his love of ceramics while living in Los Angeles, drawn to the mood and materials of the West. He began creating functional work for the home and developing a personal studio practice. In 2024, he moved to White Salmon, Washington, to be closer to nature and build a studio on five acres overlooking the Columbia River. He lives there with his wife and two dogs and spends as much time as possible exploring the outdoors.
